Akshaya Patra Foundation

The Akshaya Patra Foundation is an NGO in India, devoted to providing students with lunch every day, for free. After the foundation successfully implemented a school lunch program in Karnataka, it expanded to encompass the needs of over 1.4 million children. They have nineteen kitchens across India, which helps them reach 10 states and the 10,845 schools that they provide lunches. Through the foundation, Rs. 675 feeds one child for an entire year. REAL currently funds lunchtime meals for 72 children in the village of Pedakanjerla, north of Hyderabad. Learn more at Akshaya Patra’s website.
