Pardada Pardadi Girls Vocational School (PPES)Pardada Pardadi Educational Society is an organization committed to helping girls in rural India. This organization has created a school called the Pardada Pardadi Girls Vocational School which is a registered school in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. More specifically, it is located in the village of Anupshahar, in the Bulandshahr district of UP. This area is one of India poorest and is infamous for being a high crime rate. Moreover, it is one of the least-educated and least-literate sections of India. The Pardada Pardadi Girls Vocational School contains classes from nursery to class eleven, and is currently working on being registered through class twelve. Currently, there are about 1000 girls enrolled. Because this is a vocational school, half of the day is spent in academic studies, and the other half of the day is spent learning vocational skills. The school is specifically catered to young girls from the poorest sections of society and promotes leadership, empowerment, and the break down of cast barriers. Why is this School special?PPES specifically targets girls, because they are the most vulnerable section of the population in India. In Anupshahar, many girls are pushed into arranged marriages at the age of 13 or 14 for economic reasons. PPGVS is not only a school that provides education, but it also helps these young girls get on their feet and find jobs. PPES starts by convincing parents to send their girls to PPGVS. They do this by providing uniforms, 3 meals a day, and bicycles for girls. The school also pays each of the girls ten rupees a day for their vocational skills. Through this method, all of the girls will earn 30,000 rupees (approximately $670), vocational skills, and a second degree education by the time they graduate. PPES also guarantees jobs for girls after they graduate. The Pardada Pardadi Girls Vocational School is an organization which helps many girls in rural villages and meets REAL’s criteria.
