REAL Informational Session

Interested in community service? Want to help underprivileged children in India in sustainable and effective ways? Do you want to aid children affected by the tsunami disaster? Are you concerned about the level of literacy and education in India? If any of these questions pique your interest, then we invite you to join us at our annual Information Session brought to you by REAL Youth Board Members.

Sunday, March 6th, 2005 from 2-3:00PM at the Cedar Mills Library.

REAL is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization comprised of youth from the Portland area. REAL was formed by high school students in November 2001 to support the literacy and basic education of poor rural youth in India. REAL stands for Rural Education And Literacy.

We are looking for volunteers who are entering grades 9-12 this fall to help REAL carry out its mission. Seventh and eighth graders may also sign-up. Volunteers attend monthly board meetings, and develop important skills: teamwork, decision-making, communication, project management, leadership, and problem-solving....while helping rural children attain a basic education.

Bring a friend, come and have a doughnut or juice and discover REAL!
